David Powell
Profile
David was born and raised in the UK, in the London borough of Hillingdon. In 2000, David graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Law with Philosophy. For the next few years, he worked in the retail sector in supply chain and demand forecasting roles.
David first moved to New Zealand in 2007. Around the same time, he decided to focus on his degree subject and to pursue a career in law. Since then, David has gained over 15 years of experience in civil and commercial litigation, including 5 years in the UK.
David has significant experience in claims arising from defective building work and/or design. David’s other experience includes representing clients in construction dispute adjudications, in negligence claims against professionals, and in a range of property-related disputes.
David has appeared in the Weathertight Homes Tribunal, District Court, High Court and the Court of Appeal, including interlocutory applications, trials and appeals. He is well-practised in using negotiation and mediation as alternative means of resolving his clients’ disputes.
